Buck Charged With Assault
Rapper Young Buck was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on Monday, stemming from an incident at the Vibe Awards in November where police allege he stabbed a man during a brawl. Born David Darnell Brown, Young Buck could face up to eight years in prison if convicted. An arraignment is set for January 14th.
Police say the fight was touched off after a man named Jimmy James Johnson approached Dr. Dre under the pretext of asking for an autograph and then subsequently punched him. Johnson was stabbed in the melee and hospitalized with a collapsed lung. Charges were also filed Monday against Johnson, 26, who is in police custody on a parole violation.
Dre produced parts of Young Buck’s first album Straight Outta Cashville, which debuted at Number Three in August. Young Buck remains free on $500,000 bail.
