Video: Jack White’s White House Tribute to Paul McCartney
On July 28th, PBS will premiere the White House’s all-star tribute concert to Paul McCartney, but the network has posted a sneak preview on their official YouTube page. Click above to watch Jack White deliver an intimate version of the White Album classic “Mother Nature’s Son” as McCartney, President Barack Obama and the rest of the First Family look on from the front row. As a bonus nod to the Beatle’s catalog, White throws in a quick tease to the McCartney track “That Would Be Something” at the end of his performance.
As Rolling Stone previously reported, McCartney received the Library of Congress’ Gershwin Prize for Popular Music at a ceremony held at the White House in early June. Stevie Wonder, the Jonas Brothers, Elvis Costello and Dave Grohl took part in the celebration by covering songs from both McCartney’s solo and Beatles discography. “I don’t think there could be anything more special than playing here,” McCartney said at the White House ceremony. “We’re thinking of making it a regular thing.”
