Jeff Bridges Signs Record Deal
Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges has signed a recording contract with Blue Note Records. Bridges is set to hit the studio with producer T Bone Burnett to record an album featuring original tunes as well as covers of songs by Tom Waits, Bo Ramsey and Greg Brown. The record, which is scheduled for release by the end of summer, will also include guest appearances by Rosanne Cash and Sam Phillips. [EW.com]
Animal Collective Announce U.S. Tour
Animal Collective will embark on on a brief tour in July that will include headlining performances at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago and Merriweather Post Pavilion – the namesake of their 2009 breakthrough album – in Columbia, Maryland. The band will also hit Alpharetta, Georgia; Millvale, Pennsylvania and Orlando, Florida. [press release]

New Pornographers Singer Plans Solo Tour
Kathryn Calder, vocalist and keyboard player for the New Pornographers, is about to embark on her first solo tour in support of Are You My Mother?, her debut album. Calder will play nine dates in May, beginning with an opening-act spot on a bill with the New Pornographers at the Mt. Baker Theater in Bellingham, Washington on May 6th. [press release]
