The Phil Spector Trial: We Watch Court TV So You Don’t Have To (07/13)
WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY? ? It was a busy day at the Spector trial: First, Dr. Henry Lee, the key witness for the defense, told reporters that he likely wouldn’t testify because he will be in China. Next, Sara Caplan, Spector’s beleaguered ex-lawyer who witnessed Dr. Lee steal crime scene evidence, took the stand to say Dr. Lee did not take the sliver of Lana Clarkson‘s acrylic fingernail, completely changing the story she previously told a grand jury. The Spector defense team spent the remainder of the day trying to negate Melissa Grosvenor’s story that Spector had pointed a gun at her. In what would have been a great episode of Family Feud, two of Grosvenor’s sisters took the stand to call their sibling a “liar.”
IS THIS GOOD OR BAD FOR SPECTOR? Both. Grovesnor was proven to be unreliable, but that doesn’t eliminate the testimony of three other women who said Spector threatened them with a gun. Plus, losing Lee’s testimony could possibly cripple the defense’s suicide claims. At least the whole Caplan ordeal is behind us.
HAIR & WARDROBE UPDATE: Spector’s wife, Rachelle, told Court TV that Spector’s hair is real and not a wig. She was not under oath when making these statements.
