Wyoming pop-punksters Teenage Bottlerocket will release their fifth studio album, Freak Out!, on July 3rd through Fat Wreck Chords. Recorded at Colorado’s the Blasting Room in early 2012, the album has been described by the band as “gleefully stupid, infectiously awesome punk rock.” However, its sixth track, “Done With Love,” adds a sharp dose of bitterness to the band’s familiar power-chord fantasies.
According to vocalist and guitarist Kody Templeman, the lyrics were inspired by his own experience ending a relationship.
“I wrote it after my ex-wife and I were divorced,” Templeman tells Rolling Stone. “It’s about finding strength in keeping people at arm’s length and not letting anyone close enough to hurt you again. I had the idea of going completely overboard with this idea, to the point of writing off love completely for the rest of my life, when I penned the tune.”
The album also features two tracks from 2011’s Mutilate Me EP, “Mutilate Me” and “Punk House of Horror.” Download “Done With Love” here.
