The 25 Best Super Bowl Commercials Ever
Blame the relentless media hype, the rampant commercialism or the mind-numbingly dull Seattle Seahawks all you want: Super Bowl commercials have become a bigger entertainment draw than the game itself. The average thirty-second spot this year cost a whopping $2.6 million — that’s $86,666 per second of ad time (compared with a bargain $42,000 for a full thirty seconds during the first Super Bowl forty years ago). But with 58 perecent of viewers claiming they pay more attention to the commercials than the game itself, barring a Peyton Manning wardrobe malfunction, chances are good your office Monday morning will be talking about one of the 60 different ads rather than anything that actually happened on the field.
Luckily, the other side of that coin is that because everyone’s watching, the Super Bowl is traditionally a showcase for the best and brightest the ad world has to offer. This week we’re counting down the 25 greatest Super Bowl ads of all time. Will a 2007 ad force its way into the top spot? We’ll have to wait until Sunday night to find out.
