Rosanne Cash Tells Off John Boehner
Johnny Cash was plenty outspoken and so is his daughter Rosanne, but “asshat” isn’t a word usually associated with country music’s first family — especially when the asshat in question is likely to be the next House majority leader.
Republican Congressman John Boehner, the current House minority leader, has been invoking the country legend’s name at rallies in recent weeks. “Remember when Ronald Reagan was president,” he said, as quoted by The New York Times. “We had Bob Hope. We had Johnny Cash. Think about where we are today. We have got President Obama. But we have no hope and we have no cash.”
That has not set well with Rosanne, who wrote last night on : “John Boehner: Stop using my dad’s name as a punchline, you asshat.”

The comment has gotten waves of mostly positive responses, though as a “Liberal Patriot,” responded to one naysayer: “[Johnny Cash] didn’t sign on to be punchline for some politician; he’s not here to defend himself. He deserves more honor. Think what you will.”
At press time, Boehner had not responded publicly to Cash’s tweet.
