Preview Clips of Weezer’s “Raditude” Tracks Hit iTunes
Weezer fans eager to find out just how rad Raditude really is should head over to the iTunes store, as Apple’s digital-music service has posted 30-second clips of the album’s 10 tracks and two bonus songs. In addition to first single “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To,” fans can also get a taste of pub rocker “The Girl Got Hot,” touching closer “I Don’t Want to Let You Go” and Rivers Cuomo’s collabo with the All-American Rejects, “Put Me Back Together.” (Word of caution: There’s a band called Raditude! already on iTunes, so make sure you click the right one.)
It’s hard to choose favorites among half-minute excerpts, but we’re especially excited for “Can’t Stop Partying,” Weezer’s collaboration with Lil Wayne. Even though Weezy’s verse isn’t previewed on iTunes, we do get a sampling of Rivers’ awesomely offbeat lyrics for the track. “Monday to Sunday, I hit all the clubs, and now everybody knows me when I pull up,” Cuomo sings. “I got the real big posse with me, yeah I’m deep, and if you’re looking for me, I’m in VIP. Just follow the smoke, they’re bringing bottles of the Goose, and all the girls in the corner are getting loose.” The song is one “makin’ it rain” reference away from being a Lil Jon song, even though musically it’s closer to MGMT than Crunk Rock (and light years more party-worthy than the demo version that appeared on Cuomo’s Alone II).
You can also check out the “Kids” portion of Weezer’s iTunes bonus track mash-up of “Kids/Poker Face,” plus the acoustic bonus cut “The Story of My Life.” However, the four new songs that’ll appear on the Deluxe Raditude were not posted as previews. As Rolling Stone previously reported, Weezer’s dictionary-defying new album is due out two weeks from today on October 27th.
Also, iTunes is launching its Weezer pass, which offers fans artwork and exclusive downloads, today and it lasts through November 24th for $19.99. The first track sent to fans’ libraries is the band’s cover of the Clash’s “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” and more goodies — like the deluxe version of the album, behind-the-scenes video footage and more — will be dispatched weekly.
