Aly Spaltro, better known as Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, is hard at work recording her next album in New York, set to be released sometime in 2012. Spaltro’s childhood, which she spent listening to oldies and making mix tapes from the radio, might have served as early inspiration to record her version of Bob Dylan‘s “All I Really Want To Do.”
“I hadn’t heard Cher’s version of ‘All I Really Want To Do’ until this past year,” she explains to Rolling Stone. “I love the warmth of the recording, the simplicity of the melody and the verse-chorus repetitive structure. I love how you can tell the band recorded the song live in a room together.”
When Lady Lamb the Beekeeper was given the opportunity to record a song of her choice in a proper studio for the website BrooklynBased.net, she chose to record this song live with her full band. “I wanted to get a similar feel as Cher’s version,” Spaltro says.
