Law Hounds Combs
Sean “P. Diddy” Combs was detained briefly by police in Miami Beach on April 14th for driving a rented motor scooter with a suspended license. Though Combs wasn’t taken to jail for the traffic violation, he was ticketed, his second such offense in a four-day span, and had to sign a “promise to appear form,” which ensures his appearance in court to answer to the charges. The most recent offense occurred when the hip-hop mogul was pulled over for making an illegal lane change, close to 6 p.m.
Combs was detained for less than a half hour and hit with the misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended license, which carries a maximum fine of $500.
On April 10th, Combs was stopped by Golden Beach Police just after 4 a.m. for speeding and ticketed for driving with a suspended license. Combs license was suspended this past February, for failure to pay a parking fine. For this first offense, he was not arrested because he was unaware that the license had been suspended.
“Mr. Combs’ license has been reinstated and this matter is being resolved by Miami officials now,” read a statement by a spokesperson for Combs. “Due to the Easter holiday, paperwork regarding the validity of Mr. Combs’ license had not reached the national database thus resulting in this misunderstanding. This was a simple traffic ticket that has been blown out of proportion.”
