Alicia Keys Places “Booty Call” to Andy Samberg on “SNL”
The Dallas Cowboys’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles conspired against anyone who routinely DVRs Saturday Night Live this week, but the Web has gifted us with Alicia Keys’ two performances from her new album The Element of Freedom, “Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart” and “Empire State of Mind Part II” (and no, Jay-Z didn’t catch a yellow cab, gypsy cab or dollar cab uptown from his abode in Tribeca for any cameos).
Whenever a female singer is featured as a musical guest, we know we’ll be seeing more of them alongside Andy Samberg in an SNL Digital Short, and Keys’ sketch did not disappoint. In the “scandocious” “Booty Call,” a sultry Keys makes a late night phone call to Samberg’s nerdy Lyle, pleading with him to come over. Watch the Digital Short up top and Jigga-free “Empire Part II” below.
As Rolling Stone previously noted, this weekend’s SNL featured Charles Barkley’s first time hosting Saturday Night Live since September 25th, 1993. That episode’s musical guest: Nirvana, who played “Heart Shaped Box” and “Rape Me.”
