Lady Gaga Goes Interactive With Plans for ‘ARTPOP’ App
In a Björk-ian twist, Lady Gaga has revealed on her website that her new record ARTPOP will come as an interactive app filled with videos for each song on the album, bonus music, games, magazines, chats, fashion updates and more.
Billed by Gaga as “a multimedia experience,” the app will be available in iPad-, iPhone-, mobile- and computer-compatible versions. ARTPOP will also come in standard physical and digital formats that Gaga says “will be unique and different” from the app.
“You inspired me to create something that communicated with images, because YOU do,” wrote Gaga. “YOU communicate with me and each other with .gifs and pictures, and artwork, graphics ALL DAY 24/7/YOU’RE an ARTPOP generation.”
There’s no official word on a release date for ARTPOP, but if her parenthetical postscript – “start asking for IPADS FOR XMAS!!” – is any indication, perhaps we’ll see the new album this winter or early next year.
