Gaga Debuts ‘Cake’ Song at Paris Fashion Show
A song called “Cake Like Lady Gaga” debuted during a recent Mugler fashion show in Paris, at which Lady Gaga served as the music director. While Gaga hasn’t said the song is hers, the lyrics are Gaga-centric, and they’re delivered by what sounds like an effects-treated Gaga: “Fuck the world I’m Lady Gaga / Run the world like Lady Gaga,” goes one part, followed later by, “Private plane like Lady Gaga / Sip champagne like Lady Gaga/ Sold-out shows like Lady Gaga/ Big bankroll like Lady Gaga.”
An anonymous male voice also appears on the track, and seems to make light of the pop star’s reported recent weight gain: “You chew beef, I wear meat/ And stay on top of the – I’m-I’m-I’m-I’m/ Getting fat and so is my bank / With a sold-out world tour, bitch.”
In August Gaga confirmed the title of her forthcoming new album, ARTPOP, expected for release in early 2013. Tony Bennett recently told Rolling Stone that he and the pop star would be recording a jazz album. “Of all things, she called me from New Zealand and said, ‘I want to do a jazz album with you,'” he said. “And I said, ‘You got it!'” The two had previously collaborated on a cover of the Rodgers and Hart song “The Lady is a Tramp” for Bennett’s 2011 chart-topping album Duets.
