The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, one of the world’s largest and most celebrated music events, will take place this weekend in Indio, California. Rolling Stone will be there, providing you with comprehensive coverage of the festival with a steady stream of news, concert reports, photos, interviews and videos on our Coachella blog all weekend long. Rolling Stone was also at some of the hottest live shows this week. We covered the first night of Prince’s 21-concert residency in Los Angeles, the Foo Fighters’ show at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, James Taylor’s anniversary concert at Carnegie Hall, Dave Matthews’ performance with the Blue Man Group and TV on the Radio’s hometown gig at Radio City Music Hall.

In celebration of Record Store Day this weekend we put together a list of the 20 best Record Store Day exclusives hitting stores on Saturday, as well as a gallery showcasing the 30 best independent record shops in the United States. Plus, electro pop singer MNDR came to the Rolling Stone office to perform her latest singles, Fitz and the Tantrums were named our latest Band to Watch and Ray Davies talked to us about a potential reunion for the Kinks. Also, we analyzed this week’s pop charts, looked back on this week in rock history and as always, we reviewed all the week’s biggest new releases.

On the pop culture front, Peter Travers paid tribute to the late Sidney Lumet, a filmmaker he calls a “master director.” Travers also reviewed Scream 4, which he says isn’t on par with the original Scream movies, as well as The Conspirator and the utterly horrendous screen adaptation of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. Also, Mallika Rao commented on the contestants’ choice of songs and the dismissal of Paul McDonald on this week’s episodes of American Idol.
