Johnny Depp Rocks Out with Aerosmith
Before Johnny Depp aped Keith Richards’ mannerisms in his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow, he cut his teeth as a guitarist in several garage and punk bands – and he likes to return to those roots occasionally with his various superstar pals. On Monday night, Depp strapped on his ax and joined Aerosmith onstage during their show at the Hollywood Bowl to run through a riotous cover of the blues staple “Train Kept A-Rollin’,” which you can watch here. The onstage jam follows their recent in-studio collaboration for Aerosmith‘s forthcoming LP, Music From Another Dimension!
Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and the rest of Aerosmith have a longtime love for the classic song; they recorded it for their 1974 album Get Your Wings, and it appears in their game Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. However, their version takes on a whole new charisma with Depp’s committed playing – and it helps that his shaggy haircut matches the band, too.
