Style Highlights from AfroPunk Festival 2012
Vanessa S. Williams, 24, attends AfroPunk Festival to see Ninjasonik. She hails from Nassau, Bahamas, but lives in Brooklyn and claims her style is influenced by Cruella de Vil.

Coco and Breezy
Coco (left) and Breezy (right) are 22-year-old twins who were born in Minnesota and are currently based in Brooklyn. They run their own eyewear brand, CocoandBreezy, which they sold at AfroPunk between sets.

Kashif and Kareem
Kashif (left), 20, lives in Brentwood, Long Island, and calls Michael Jackson his style inspiration. He most anticipated Erykah Badu's set at AfroPunk. Kareem (right), 17, is a Brooklynite who culls influence from Kwame, Big Daddy Kane, Heavy D and "Will from Fresh Prince of Bel Air, the 1991-1992 seasons."

Ray Quartley (left), 25, is a Londoner visiting friends in New York City; she calls Audrey Hepburn and Dita Von Teese her biggest style idols. Shakila (right), also 25, is obsessed with Armani.

Tommy, 21, hails from Harlem and was drawn to AfroPunk for Erykah Badu and Cerebral Ballzy's sets.

Antoinette, 20, from Southern California calls the British supermodel Agyness Deyn her biggest style influence. She came to AfroPunk Festival to see Erykah Badu and to sell friends' jewelry.

John Jai
John Jai from Queens, New York, says his style is based on "going with the flow." The same policy applied to his music tastes; he came to AfroPunk Festival to see "all the artists."

Tenn
Tenn, 24, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and lives in Manhattan. She considers her style "contemporary mod" and was most looking forward to TV on the Radio's set at AfroPunk.

Omega Sirius Moon, 27, is a Virginia transplant living in Brooklyn. He calls "no one" his style hero yet came to AfroPunk for "everyone."

Kelow, 19, traveled from Prince Georges, Maryland, for AfroPunk acts Erykah Badu and Purple Ferdinand. He finds style inspiration in Aaliyah and "the homeless," explaining, "They gotta use what they got to make it look good."

Troy Landry, 25, on holiday from New Orleans, came to AfroPunk to see DJ Musa of Spank Rock. He considers himself his own style guru.

Bintu 'Honey B' Kabba, 25, of Philadelphia loves Kelis' style and, like many, attended AfroPunk for Erykah Badu.

Brooklyn resident Amber Rutland, 22, gleans inspiration from Japanese fashion and came out to support AfroPunk's female artists, including Erykah Badu and Janelle Monáe.

Whippa Wiley (left) is a Californian living in Brooklyn who considers Sixties through early Nineties fashion her inspiration. Kateri (right) hails from the Bay Area and likes to mix "vintage with modern pieces."

Amanda Rassi, 26, brought her colorful style straight from Brazil to Brooklyn so she could see Erykah Badu.
