Johnny Cash Recovering
After being hospitalized with pneumonia on February 11th, Johnny Cash‘s condition has been upgraded from serious to satisfactory. Cash was admitted to Baptist Hospital in Nashville after returning from his winter home in Jamaica.
Pneumonia felled Cash twice in 1998 and once in 1999. He suffers from autonomic neuropathy, a disease of the nervous system that makes those afflicted with the illness susceptible to pneumonia.
This year, Cash is among the critics’ favorites at the Grammy Awards. He is nominated in the Best Contemporary Folk Album category for American III: Solitary Man. Cash has nine Grammy Awards and a Lifetime Achievement to his credit thus far. Cash has also recorded a duet with Billy Bob Thornton for the director’s upcoming album. No word on when that album will be released.
Cash turns sixty-nine on February 26th.
