Beach Boys to Continue Touring Without Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, David Marks
The Beach Boys‘ 50th anniversary reunion tour will end after a two-night stand in London later this month. When they return to America, original members Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks will no longer perform with the group. At that point, the “Beach Boys” will once again consist of Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and their longtime backing band that includes Love’s son Christian, Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten.
“As we move on, Bruce and I look forward to performing live for Beach Boys fans everywhere,” Love said in a press release. It also noted, “The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band.”
However, Brian Wilson seemed optimistic about continuing with the band. When asked recently what his future plans were, Wilson told Rolling Stone, “I want to continue touring with the Beach Boys indefinitely.” Still, Wilson was unsure of the possibilities of that happening. “I don’t know. I really don’t know. I just know I’m going to continue to tour with them,” he said.
Love has already booked October dates in North America for the post-50th anniversary Beach Boys, with more dates to come. Last week, Wilson posted a message on Tumblr revealing that he has undergone two “cutting-edge” procedures this year to correct a problem in his lower back, receiving the second only a few weeks ago.
Earlier this year, the surviving members of the Beach Boys put aside their longstanding differences to record a new album, That’s Why God Made the Radio, and tour the world.
