Green Day Cancel Voodoo Festival Appearance
Green Day have canceled their upcoming appearance at the New Orleans Voodoo Music and Arts Experience on October 27th, the band announced. “Canceling shows is something we rarely do,” drummer Tré Cool said in a press release. “We never want to let our fans down, and we are grateful for all of you being understanding during this time.”
There’s no word on whether the Voodoo Festival cancellation is related to recent news that frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is seeking treatment for substance abuse following an on-stage meltdown at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas.
Earlier in September, the band was forced to cancel a show in Italy when Armstrong was hospitalized; at the time, the band said Armstrong was suffering from “heavy dehydration.”
Green Day is still preparing to launch the first leg of their North American tour behind their upcoming album trilogy ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!, starting November 26th in Seattle. The band has already released ¡Uno!, with ¡Dos! set to drop on November 13th, and ¡Tré! on January 15th, 2013.
