Dave Matthews, Flaming Lips Hit Vegasat Vegoose
Dave Matthews and Friends, Jack Johnson and the Flaming Lips will be headlining the all-new, two-day Vegoose music festival, set for Halloween weekend at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.
Organized by the creators of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, the cross-genre event will also feature hipster indie acts the Shins, the Decemberists and Spoon; hip-hop acts Lyrics Born and the reunited Digable Planets; a revived Primus, irreverent alt-rockers Ween, Southern rock jam band Widespread Panic, veteran funk band the Meters and Bonnaroo veteran Trey Anastasio.
Another Bonnaroo alumnus, Jack Johnson told Rolling Stone of that festival, “It has the vibe. Not just for the fans, but also for the bands. Backstage is exactly how I would have dreamed these festivals would be: musicians sitting around showing each other songs, watching each others’ sets from the side of the stage. And some of the best live music that I have seen was at those past festivals.” Organizers hope to bring the same eclectic mix and laid-back feeling to Vegoose.
In addition to the stadium, the festival will also encompass the twenty acres of land behind the building, and include four nights of late-night shows at local venues such as the House of Blues, the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and the Orleans Arena, beginning October 28th.
Tickets for Vegoose go on sale August 13th through vegoose.com.
