Flavor Flav Closes Fried Chicken Restaurant in Iowa
Flavor Flav‘s fried chicken restaurant in Clinton, Iowa has closed less than four months after opening earlier this year. Flav’s Fried Chicken, the first of a planned chain co-owned by the Public Enemy emcee and reality television star, struggled with bounced paychecks to its employees. Flav initially denied the eatery’s difficulty in paying its staff but told television station WQAD that he pulled the plug on the restaurant because “there’s a lot of employees that weren’t getting paid.”
Flav told TMZ that he cut ties with the business in part because he was disgusted by the practices of restaurant manager Nick Cimino. “Let me be straight up with you, I went up inside there on April 2nd and I found potato salad that expired on February 28,” the rapper said. “And it’s then when I realized I can’t do business with this man and I really hope no one ate those potatoes.”

In an interview with WQAD, Cimino declared Flav to be a “fraud” and alleged the rapper “doesn’t want to be hurt with the other ventures he’s doing and he wants to become a millionaire off my dime, off my ideas.” Cimino claims that the payroll issue was the result of a “credit card glitch.”
This experience has clearly not deterred Flav from opening other restaurants. His Flavor Flav’s House of Flavor is set to open in Las Vegas next month.
