Adele Gives Birth to Baby Boy
Adele has given birth to a healthy baby boy, Us Weekly has confirmed. This was the first child for the 24-year-old singer, who had just shared the news of her pregnancy in June.
“I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together,” Adele wrote on her official website this summer. “I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx.”
The baby’s father is Simon Konecki, co-founder of the U.K. bottled water company Life Water. A week after Adele announced her pregnancy, the news came out that Konecki was planning to propose to the singer.
A source tells Us Weekly that the singer is already at work on her new album, which will reportedly be lighter in tone than Adele’s last record, with Adele’s experience with the baby serving as inspiration for the new material. “The pregnancy has had a big impact on her songwriting!” the source said.
Adele’s breakout 2011 album 21 sold 18 million copies worldwide and spent 24 weeks at Number One. In October of 2011, she was forced to take a break from singing as she continued to recover from surgery due to a vocal cord hemorrhage, but she bounced back earlier this month, contributing the title song to the new James Bond movie, Skyfall.
