L.P. Goes Rogue in ‘Into the Wild’ – Premiere
Singer-songwriter L.P. has unveiled the video for the title track of her debut EP, Into the Wild: Live At EastWest Studios. The clip, which you can watch here, is L.P.’s modern-day interpretation of Thelma and Louise: the singer strums her signature ukulele in a barren desert while two fugitives (played by actresses Brittany Snow and Haley Bennett) evade the FBI agents in hot pursuit.
“I had a great time filming ‘Into the Wild’ in the desert with my good friend and director Shane Drake. It was 107 degrees by 11 a.m. – hot!” L.P. tells Rolling Stone. “I also had fun working with Brittany Snow and Haley Bennett; they really brought the Thelma and Louise theme to life.”
The throaty singer (born Laura Pergolizzi) may be gaining mainstream traction now, especially after “Into the Wild” was featured in a CitiBank commercial, but she’s already enjoyed a successful career as a songwriter; she’s written tracks for Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and the Backstreet Boys. Her debut album, recorded with Green Day producer Rob Cavallo, is due in early 2013. L.P. is currently on the road for select tour dates in New York and California, including an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman tonight.
