Former Assistant Sues Courtney Love Over ‘Despicable Conduct’
A former assistant for Courtney Love has sued the rocker after working for her for a year, reports E!. Jessica Labrie claims Love “acted with an improper and evil motive amounting to malice or despicable conduct” during the time she was employed by the Hole frontwoman.
The lawsuit notes Love hired Labrie in June 2010 as an administrative assistant and “forensic research aide.” Despite the $30 an hour pay, Labrie claims she worked over 60-hour weeks without overtime pay, was forced to send false legal correspondence, was asked to hire a computer hacker, was never paid any promised bonuses, did not receive promised tuition payments for her Yale education, did not land a promised gig on a Nirvana biopic and more.
Labrie says she was forced to step down from her position in June 2011 while still awaiting more than $2,000 in payments from Love. She cites headaches, insomnia, anxiety, and depression as symptoms from the situation, and is seeking damages for wrongful termination, breach of contract, intentional inflicted emotional distress, negligent misrepresentation and failure to pay wages and overtime.
A rep for Love had yet to comment when contacted by E!. Just last month, Love was slapped with a lawsuit from her former lawyers at Keith A. Fink and Associates for failing to pay up on most of her approximately $518,000 in accumulated fees.
