Travers: Bill Murray Shines in ‘Hyde Park on Hudson’
This week, Peter Travers highlights the new Franklin Delano Roosevelt sort-of biopic Hyde Park on Hudson. Taking place over a weekend at the 32nd President’s upstate New York getaway, the film follows FDR (Bill Murray) as he has an affair with his distant cousin Daisy (Laura Linney) and receives a visit from the King and Queen of England, who want the U.S. to join the war effort. “All this is like, ‘Ugh, please, are you kidding me?'” moans Travers, though he applauds another spectacular performance from Murray that “has all the layers the rest of the movie doesn’t have at all.”
Accordingly, the big question Travers leaves this week isn’t what you thought about Hyde Park on Hudson, but a much more fun one: What’s your favorite Bill Murray movie? Do you agree with Travers’ pick of Groundhog Day, or do you prefer Murray’s later turns in Rushmore or Lost in Translation? Let him know via email, on Twitter or in the comments below.
