Garth Brooks Hints at Big Announcement
Cryptic, yes. Unpredictable, no.
“The wait is over…7/7,” reads a post on Garth Brooks’ website today, as lightning flashes and thunder rolls in the background of the page.

So, what’s the big announcement on Monday? We like to think he heard our battle cry last month, as Rolling Stone Country posed the impatient question of just when the biggest-selling country star in music history would finally announce his comeback tour.
Brooks parked his tour bus in 2001, making the honorable commitment to trade his day job for a more important job: Dad. He vowed to stay home in Oklahoma with his three daughters and wife Trisha Yearwood until his youngest graduated from high school, which happened this past May. But before making a U.S. trek official, the singer set a five-night run in Ireland, July 25-29 at Dublin’s Croke Park. Still, the promise of a stateside road trip has been made, and we even know who his tourmate will be: his better half. The only question is when.
“We’re going on a world tour in 2014,” Brooks told ABC’s Good Morning America last year. “It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring…. All my babies are fine with it. Ms. Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music. I get to be with the person I want to be with, which is Ms. Yearwood.”
“My children are off on their own so the guilt of not being there… I’m a phone call dad now,” he added, joking, “‘Hey Dad, I love you, can I borrow some money?'”
If Monday’s announcement is not a long list of U.S. tour dates, it could be concerning new music. (Though our hopes are for both.) Brooks’ last album was the 2013 box set, Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences, on which he covers everyone from Hank Williams to Otis Redding.
