Hurricane Sandy Disrupts East Coast Concerts
Louis C.K., Rita Ora, the xx and Ghostface Killah, along with President Obama and Mitt Romney, are among the many who have canceled or rescheduled live appearances as Hurricane Sandy overtakes the East Coast. Louis C.K. posted an apology on his website after rescheduling his show yesterday at the City Center in New York for March 2nd. “If it’s any consolation, I’m eating a pretty staggering fee for cancelling the show. But I can take it,” wrote C.K. “What I can’t take is the thought that there’s a CHANCE 4,300 people will be in danger trying to get home from my stupid show.”
Women Who Rock finalist Rita Ora nixed her show in Philadelphia yesterday, MTV reports. Ghostface Killah axed his Highline Ballroom show in New York, and the xx has postponed shows in New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Hurricane Sandy is also interfering with the crucial last week of the presidential campaign, The Associated Press reports. President Obama canceled a Florida event scheduled for today and has returned to Washington D.C. to monitor the hurricane. Despite canceling a Virginia event yesterday and a New Hampshire event on Tuesday, Mitt Romney will continue on the campaign trail today in Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin.
