Metallica to Record New Album With Rick Rubin
Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo has confirmed that the band will record their next album with Rick Rubin as producer. In an interview with KCLB radio, Trujillo said that Rubin, who produced the band’s last album Death Magnetic, is “a Zen guru spirit that Metallica needs right now. Not to say that we need it, because we’re getting along incredibly well, we’re really excited to write some new music. There’s no shortage of riffage in Metallica world right now.” [Spinner]
Paul McCartney Solo Albums Reissued
Paul McCartney‘s 1970 solo album McCartney and his 1980 record McCartney II will be reissued on June 14th as expanded sets. The two-disc special edition versions will include previously unreleased outtakes and live recordings, while the deluxe editions will also come packaged in a 128-page hardbound book including photographs by McCartney’s late wife Linda and a DVD featuring previously unseen footage. 50 Cent is set to launch ThisIs50Comedy.com, a new comedy website, tomorrow morning. The site will open with the premiere episode of This Is 50 Comedy Show, a monthly web-only program hosted by the comedian Young Jack Thriller. [Vulture]
Ghostface Killah Beer Hits Stores
The Boulder, Colorado brewery Twisted Pine have released a limited edition run of Ghost Face Killah beer, a drink inspired – but not officially endorsed by – the Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ghostface Killah. (Note the space in the name of the brew.) The beer is brewed with five different peppers, including the Bhut Jolokia, a pepper so incredibly hot that it can be weaponized. [LA Times]
Mountain Goats Announce West Coast Tour
The Mountain Goats will play a string of headlining dates along the West Coast in June, including gigs in Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The band wil also play a handful of shows opening for Bright Eyes in the Northeast, and make an appearance at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago in August. [Press release]
