Allman Brothers Return to the Road This Fall
The Allman Brothers will return to the stage on November 18th for the first time since Gregg Allman’s liver transplant, kicking off three nights of shows at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre. “I’ve been itching to play since I got the operation,” Gregg Allman said in a statement. “Can’t thank everyone enough for their help and support.” The dates will launch the Allmans’ “Evening With” tour of intimate East Coast venues. Allman also plans to perform a pair of solo shows at New Brunswick’s Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival on September 15 and 16.

Allman underwent successful liver transplant surgery in late June after years of health trouble stemming from Hepatitis C. In 2007, doctors deemed the damage to Allman’s liver so severe that they recommended he put his name on a transplant wait list; a donor liver arrived on June 23. The Allman Brothers were then forced to cancel their performance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago the weekend following Allman’s surgery. He finally left the hospital on July 2.

Gregg Allman will perform with the longstanding Allman Brothers lineup of guitarists Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes, drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimoe, bassist Oteil Burbridge and percussionist Marc Quinones. Tickets for the Orpheum shows go on sale this Thursday, August 12th.
