On the Set of ‘This is 40’ with Graham Parker
Graham Parker and the Rumour are ready to return with their first new album together since 1980’s The Up Escalator, and Parker is feeling quite invigorated. In this clip, the British rocker gives a behind-the-scenes look at Judd Apatow‘s upcoming film This Is 40, in which Parker and the reunited Rumour have small roles. “I’m back,” he says. “You’ve got to hit refresh every now and again. Basically, every album is the best way to hit refresh.”
Graham brought the group back together through an email chain, first reaching out to drummer Stephen Goulding and bassist Andrew Bodnar to be his rhythm section. Goulding joked that the group was close to a full reunion and, soon enough, everyone was back together – but don’t expect any warm, fuzzy feelings. “I’m British. I won’t be showing any emotion today,” cracks guitarist Martin Belmont.
Still, the reunion has been an energizing experience. “It was a bit like going into a wormhole,” says Goulding. Graham Parker and the Rumour’s upcoming album, Three Chords Good, is available now. This Is 40 opens in theaters on December 21st.
