Night Moves Toy With Light in ‘Country Queen’
“We wanted to make a performance video that was creepy yet warm,” Night Moves frontman John Pelant tells Rolling Stone of “Country Queen,” the new single from the Minneapolis trio. His description definitely fits: while the track itself is dramatic and ethereal, the video enhances the drama by shrouding the band members in varying degrees of darkness and using silhouettes and light tricks to reveal them bit by bit. Combine this with the video’s central prop, a floral and golden microphone stand, and the whole thing feels like an Eighties dream sequence.
“We made this microphone stand a few years back and she makes appearances every now and then at our shows,” Pelant explains. “Her floral bush stands as a centerpiece to the cosmic.”
“Country Queen” is off Night Moves’ debut album, Colored Emotions, for which they are currently on tour.
