The Milk Carton Kids Harmonize on ‘Snake Eyes’ – Premiere
The Milk Carton Kids reach into an earlier era for their rustic folk sound, and on “Snake Eyes,” the duo adds a dash of nostalgia to the mix. The track is on the band’s upcoming debut, The Ash and Clay, as well as the soundtrack to Gus Van Sant‘s latest film, Promised Land. The movie features The Office‘s John Krasinski as a local activist fighting to keep a natural gas company salesman (played by Matt Damon) from convincing his town to allow fracking.
For the band, contributing to the film made perfect sense, as it tied into the concept of resisting change. “‘Snake Eyes’ arises from a fascination with nostalgia, which has this wonderfully complex duality to it: at once we revel fondly in the past, yet mourn with sadness that it’s gone,” says member Joey Ryan. The Ash and Clay will be released on March 26th.
