Ron Wood Breaks Both Legs in Car Accident
NEWBURY, ENGLAND — Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood suffered two broken legs on November 12th in a highway accident fifty miles west of London that also involved his wife and children. Wood’s wife, Jo, was driving the couple’s BMW when the car crashed. Wood, 43, was unhurt in the accident, but when he stepped from the car to direct traffic around it, he was struck by another car; the impact shattered both his legs. Two other automobiles then smashed into Wood’s car; Jo Wood and Wood’s children, Leah, 12, and Tyrone, 7, suffered minor injuries. Wood spent a week in a Swindon, England, hospital; at press time, a spokesperson said the guitarist was at home, outfitted with casts and crutches and doing fine.
