Britney Inks Deal With AOL
Britney Spears has hooked up with Media giant AOL Time Warner to promote and market her online.
Spears will have her own AOL Keyword, “Britney Spears,” and AOL users will have exclusive access to music, videos, online chats, contests and ticket specials. AOL is also planning to launch a series of original programming packages.
For Spears’ upcoming U.S. tour, which kicks off in Washington, D.C., on October 31st, AOL members will be able to purchase tickets before the general public, and one dollar from each ticket will aid children of New York City firefighters and police officers lost in the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center.
“I am excited to kick off my fall tour with the entire America Online community behind me,” Spears said. “It also means so much to me that I am able to extend my contribution to the victims’ children of the September 11th attack on our nation.”
AOL will run special promotions throughout the tour, giving fans the chance to attend sound-check parties and sit on stage at one of her concerts. AOL will also feature behind-the-scenes footage and photographs, tour diaries, and Spears will answer questions from AOL members online.
Spears’ tour is in support of her third album, Britney, which is due October 23rd.
