Glee’ Creator Says Stars Will Graduate in 2012
Several Glee‘s stars are likely to leave the show at the end of 2012, show creator Ryan Murphy said Wednesday.
“Every year we’re going to populate a new group,” Murphy told Australia’s News.com. (That process has already begun; the show’s second season saw the introduction of Chord Overstreet as Sam Evans.) “There’s nothing more depressing than a high schooler with a bald spot. I think you have to be true to the fact that here is a group of people who come and go in these teachers’ lives — they graduate and they’re gone.”

The show’s popularity suggests that several of its breakout stars — including Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron and Chris Colfer — could be leaving for other opportunities within the next couple of years anyway, and Murphy noted that their impending graduation from McKinley High will only ramp up the show’s drama.

Meanwhile, CBS news anchor Katie Couric looks set to join Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow and others in the show’s roster of guest stars, the New York Post reported Thursday. Citing “a source,” the paper said Couric has signed on to appear in a scene with Jane Lynch’s character Sue Sylvester in the show’s post-Super Bowl episode, in which the cast is expected to perform Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Couric was among the critics of several Glee castmembers’ racy poses in last month’s issue of GQ.
