D’Angelo Injured in Crash
Grammy-winning R&B singer D’Angelo is listed in critical condition after his Hummer crashed on September 19th in his native Virginia, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The vehicle was headed east on Route 711 in Powhatan County, when it ran off the road, hit a fence and overturned. D’Angelo was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. Another person in the car, Lynne Sellers, was also hurt. Police said it is not known who was driving. Both were taken to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. The accident is still under investigation.
D’Angelo, born Michael Eugene Archer, recently plead no contest to one count of felony cocaine possession and was given a three-year suspended sentence. The singer was arrested and charged with drunk driving and drug possession last January, when police found marijuana and cocaine inside his vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
His latest album, Voodoo, was released in 2000.
