Trent Reznor Accused Of Song Theft
And if it isn’t Oasis’ label, Creation Records,
stopping fans from creating websites, it’s other online users who
are accusing musicians of stealing songs. Trent
Reznor, the lead singer of Nine Inch
Nails and founder of Nothing Records,
was slapped with a federal complaint by Mark Nicholas
Onofrio, a musician who said he met Reznor online and
introduced him to six of his songs.
The relationship began in an online chat room where Onofrio
claims he asked Reznor to listen to his songs. Reznor reportedly
agreed and Onofrio supposedly sent the tapes to Reznor’s Los
Angeles home.
Now Onofrio claims five of the songs appeared on Nine Inch
Nails’ album Downward Spiral, and the other, titled
“Burn,” ended up on the Natural Born Killers soundtrack.
However, Sioux Z., Reznor’s publicist at
Formula PR, said that while she is aware of the
accusation, they haven’t been served any papers on the matter. She
said, “I have no comment at this time since we really don’t know
what’s going on with it.”
