Chesney Weds Zellweger
Country star Kenny Chesney and Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger married on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Monday. Only about forty-five family members and close friends attended the small ceremony.
The star of major films such as Bridget Jones’ Diary, Chicago and Cold Mountain — for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2003 — Zellweger previously dated rocker Jack White of the White Stripes. The couple announced their split in December after more than a year together. Although Zellweger and Chesney were linked briefly in the press, little was known about their relationship after they met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief benefit in January (he performed, she answered phones).
In 1999, Chesney was inspired to pen the hit tune “You Had Me at Hello” after watching Zellweger play opposite Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire.
Chesney, 37, received top honors at the thirty-eighth annual Country Music Awards last November, winning Entertainer of the Year and taking home Album of the Year for his latest, Be As You Are. He currently has two Top Ten albums in Billboard‘s country chart. Zellweger, 36, stars alongside Russell Crowe in the Depression-era boxing film Cinderella Man, out June 3rd.
This is the first marriage for both Chesney and Zellweger.
