Premiere: Matisyahu Pays Tribute to Fans With ‘Sunshine’
In his video for “Sunshine,” reggae star Matisyahu pays tribute to fans with a montage of footage from his tour this summer. Shorn of his signature beard and curly locks, a reinvigorated and clean-cut Matisyahu tears through the track across a variety of cities. The video features footage from Vienna, Virginia; Baltimore; Boston; Hampton Beach, New Hampshire; Stamford, Connecticut; and Philadelphia.
“Older songs have meaning that get ascribed to them from the listeners,” Matisyahu tells Rolling Stone. “The song resonates with you and it is your story that gives it depth and meaning. With new songs they are like babies with no history, just that of the writers/parents. It’s been awesome to see over the course of this summer how the songs have become meaningful to you, my fans. It makes them so much more meaningful to me then they ever could have been with out you.”
“Sunshine” is on Matisyahu’s latest album, Spark Seeker. He also makes his film debut August 31st in The Possession, and wraps his current tour September 29th in Mountain View, California, before starting another 34-date road trip October 10th in Fort Collins, Colorado.
