Ronnie Wood Recruits Slash, Flea for New Album
Ronnie Wood has recruited stars like Slash, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bobby Womack and Kris Kristofferson for his new solo album I Feel Like Playing, due September 28th. The disc, Wood’s first since since 2001’s Not For Beginners, will also feature appearances by ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Wood’s Faces band mate Ian McLagan. “Lucky Man” will be the single, but you can hear “Thing About You” on Wood’s web site now.
The Rolling Stones guitarist has been busy. Earlier this month he played a handful of reunion concerts with Faces including a gig at London’s British Music Experience with Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall filling in for Rod Stewart. And one week before I Feel Like Playing‘s release, an exhibit of Wood’s art works will open at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio. (A painting by Wood provided the cover and name for the new album.)
