Ja Rule Sentenced For Tax Evasion
Ja Rule has been sentenced to an additional 28 months in prison for failing to file tax returns with the IRS for more than $1.1 million in taxes. The jail time has been tacked on to his recent two-year sentence for a weapons charge dating back to 2007.
In an appearance on MTV's RapFix Live in April, Ja Rule said that the idea that he does not pay his taxes is "bullshit," and that he "pays plenty of taxes, millions of dollars in taxes. I owed them a little bit more." The rapper further explained that his tax problems were mainly to do with his falling out with Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. record label and issues with his accountant, who he says "had some federal issues with the boys herself for doing some things."
