Eminem Arrested in Nightclub Altercation
Not a week after his sophomore release debuted platinum, Eminem seems to have made good on his promise to piss off the world. Early Sunday morning he started near his home base in Detroit by taking center stage in a skirmish that sent four people, himself included, to jail in Warren, Mich.
The incident apparently initiated when a crowd mobbed the rapper (a.k.a. Marshall Mathers) in the parking lot of Warren’s Hot Rock’s CafT. A scuffle ensued and club security joined the fray, detaining one brawler with a weapon.
“We responded to a man with a gun call from the nightclub,” says a spokesperson for the Warren Police Department. “All I can tell you is at the present time, the two people who were charged with carrying a concealed weapon were released. And the prosecutors here are reviewing the case and they will make a determination sometime this week as to whether they will charge either one with carrying a concealed weapon. We can’t confirm or deny any rumors.”
Two men were arrested for suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon and another man and a woman were nabbed for disorderly conduct. Warren P.D. refused comment on which charges applied to particular suspects.
“It’s my understanding that the weapon that was found there was registered to [Mathers],” a source at the prosecutor’s office says. “As to whether any charges will be against Mr. Mathers, we have to review that investigative report.”
There was no comment from Eminem’s attorney or Interscope Records at press time.
