Cash Hospitalized Again
Johnny Cash was admitted to Nashville’s Baptist Hospital on October 31st for a recurring bout of bronchitis. He was admitted on October 7th to be treated for bronchitis, in what his management described as a “precaution,” so that his condition didn’t worsen. Cash was released two weeks later, before being readmitted on Wednesday.
The country music legend suffers from autonomic neuropathy, which makes him susceptible to pneumonia. The sixty-nine-year-old Cash has been hospitalized several times in the past year for pneumonia, most recently on February 11th, when he checked into Baptist Hospital after a trip to his home in Jamaica. Four years ago, Cash was misdiagnosed as having Shy Drager Syndrome, a form of Parkinson’s Disease. Late last year, doctors changed his diagnosis to autonomic neuropathy, a condition that affects the nervous system.
