Rise Against Support LGBT teens in ‘Make It Stop’
Chicago punk rockers Rise Against have teamed up with the It Gets Better Project to create the video for "Make It Stop (September's Children)," a new single in support of bullied kids. The song was inspired in part by the rash of LGBT teen suicides in September of 2010 that led sex columnist Dan Savage to co-found the It Gets Better Project, which urges LGBT kids to find counseling and resist giving in to suicidal thoughts. The video, which includes shots of the band performing in a high school gym and troubling scenes of kids being tormented by their peers, also features footage submitted to It Gets Better on YouTube in which people share words of encouragement for kids going though a very hard time.
