Taylor Swift Wins Top Honor at CMA Awards
Taylor Swift won the Entertainer of the Year prize for the second time in her career at last night’s Country Music Association Awards in Nashville. Swift, who previously won the ceremony’s top honor in 2009, won the award on the strength of her triple-platinum album Speak Now.
Other big winners at the show included the Band Perry, who won New Artist of the Year as well as Single of the Year and Song of the Year for their hit “If I Die Young,” which was penned by front woman Kimberly Perry. Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party beat out Swift for the Album of the Year award and received the Musical Event of the Year honor for “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” his duet with Kelly Clarkson. Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were honored as best male and female vocalists respectively for a second year in a row, while Lady Antebellum took home the prize for vocal group and Sugarland won for vocal duo for a fifth consecutive year.
The show, which was hosted by Brad Paisley and Carried Underwood, featured a number of memorable performances. You can watch a few highlights below.
Taylor Swift dressed down in a pink sweater and jeans for a solo acoustic rendition of her ballad “Ours,” which she performed while sitting on a ratty old couch.
Vince Gill, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley joined forces for this tribute to country great Glen Campbell, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease earlier this year.
Hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood teamed up for a duet on the romantic ballad “Remind Me.”
Jason Aldean performed his country rock hit “Tattoos On This Town” midway through the ceremony.
