Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez Win at Teen Choice Awards
Taylor Swift took home six surfboard trophies at the Teen Choice Awards yesterday, including best country song for “Mean,” best breakup song for “Back to December,” female artist and the Ultimate Choice Award, the ceremony’s most prestigious award.
“I feel like it’s been long time since I was a teenager. Like two years — so it’s been a while,” Swift joked during an acceptance speech. “When I was a teenager I felt like we were always being stereotyped as being really intense and dramatic and passionate and hopelessly romantic and excitable, and now in retrospect I think I need to let you know that I think all of those things are amazing. I hope you never lose those things.”

Though Swift dominated the music categories, teen pop star Selena Gomez won for best music single for “Who Says,” love song for “Love You Like A Love Song,” best music group for Selena Gomez and the Scene, and TV actress in a comedy for her role on Wizards of Waverly Place. Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry also one award each.
Though the Teen Choice Awards had to make time to hand out roughly eight thousand separate awards to pop stars, actors and miscellaneous celebrities, there was some time carved out in the show for a few live performances. Selena Gomez and the Scene delivered the night’s best live performance with this rendition of their new hit “Love You Like A Love Song.”
In another memorable musical moment from the show, Ashton Kutcher accepted his award for choice movie actor by singing an a cappella version of Katy Perry’s hit “Teenage Dream.”
