Marilyn Manson Offers Free Song As New Album “The High End of Low” Lurks
Starting Friday, March 27th, Marilyn Manson will offer the new song “We’re From America” from his upcoming seventh studio album The High End of Low as a free download on his official Website. As Rock Daily previously reported, High End marks the first time bassist Twiggy Ramirez has rejoined Manson for a studio album since 2000’s Holy Wood. The new album is due out May 26th. “We’re From America” will also be distributed as a digital single starting April 7th.
Last month, Manson revealed to the Smoking Section the inspiration behind the album title. “It’s a self-described state of being that I’m in. You’re going to be fucking freaked. It’s the shit.” Manson also talked about the video for High End‘s “I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies.” “It’s nine minutes long,” Manson said. “Severely sadist. Basically, it’s murder, sex, death, the end.”
Despite the free release of “We’re From America” or the video for “I Want To Kill You,” the album’s first “official” single will actually be the track “Arma geddon,” which hits radio April 13th. Why the ellipsis, you might ask? The track is reportedly actually called “Arma-God Damn-Mother Fuckin’-Geddon.” “I think my life definitely ended and began. The record sounds very final, but it’s almost optimistic though that feels like a strange word to use,” Manson said in a statement. “It’s a phoenix from the fire and a redemption resurrection.”
