Rolling Stones Add Two New Songs to Upcoming Hits Collection
The Rolling Stones are including two new tracks on the upcoming greatest hits collection GRRR! The band finished the new cuts, “Gloom and Doom” and “One Last Shot,” during recent sessions in Paris, which marked the first time the group has gotten together in the studio since their 2005 record A Bigger Bang.
The hits collection coincides with the band’s 50th anniversary. GRRR! is due November 13th in North America in 50- and 80-track versions with various bonus items including books of photos, a seven-inch record, postcards and posters. The Stones are also making use of a new app, uView, that allows fans to scan the GRRR! album art on their phone and watch it “come to life in 3D animation,” as a statement notes.
The group celebrated their official 50th birthday on July 12th, 50 years after played their first-ever gig at London’s Marquee Jazz Club. To mark the occasion, the musicians gathered for the launch of a photo exhibition. They’re also planning a pair of shows at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn before the end of the year, and a possible anniversary tour next year.
