In the Studio with Bear in Heaven
"When I was a kid I really wanted to play bass, and my Dad really didn't want me to play it. I think he wanted me to be a banker. Years later, I'm playing bass on a few Bear in Heaven songs. I love it. I don't think Adam likes when I play bass . . . mostly because he enjoys bass more than guitar. It's strange that he and my Dad share the same birthday. Maybe it's written in the stars."

"When I look at this photo, I want to yell at myself. 'Stand up straight! Shave your face!' And then I see the intercom. It reminds me of the intercom system my parents installed in our old house. It was a redneck fabulous idea. We never used it to talk to each other, as the house wasn't big enough to warrant such action. My Mom used it to fill the house with a country radio station, KICKS 101.5 FM. I can still see my Mom putting on her make-up as Kenny Rogers' 'Lady' plays in the background. I used to hate that music, now I like it."

"David Wrench 'Wrenchie' – I love this guy. He's a bad ass in the studio. He loves taking chances. I can't imagine anyone else being able to do what he did for us. I really hope we get a chance to eat some of his curry when we hit the U.K."

"I sit on the edge of chairs a lot. In this photo I'm probably asking Wrench to do something crazy. I feel like I'm always asking people to do crazy things."

"Sadly we don't have photos of Joe playing drums. So here's a photo of Joe on the couch. He was probably about to start reading a Clive Bonkers book."

"Those things in the foreground are guitar necks. We tried all of our guitars and all of the studio's guitars. Sometimes I wish we made music with just hollow bodies."
