Hear Flosstradamus and Waka Flocka’s ‘TTU (Too Turnt Up)’ – Premiere
It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Waka Flocka Flame, the Atlanta rapper whose rise realigned the focal point of mainstream rap back to the South. Between his shooting schedule for the current season of Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta and recent marriage to co-star and fiancée Tammy Rivera, Waka has pushed his sound further in the direction of festival-ready tracks like 2012’s “Fist Pump,” mixing street singles teasing fall’s Flockaveli 2 with a recent appearance on EDM stunt DJ Steve Aoki’s “Rage the Night Away.”

On “TTU (Too Turnt Up),” a new collaboration with Chicago production duo Flosstradamus that will appear on the 22 Jump Street soundtrack, the grandiosity of today’s electro-meets-dancehall-meets-hardstyle power dance is no match for Waka’s cavernous battle cry. “We built the entire song around an a cappella that he sent us,” says Josh Young, one-half of Flosstradamus.
“We read an interview last year where Waka mentioned he wanted to work with us, so our management put us in touch. There are already so many EDM remixes of his songs, it makes sense,” he adds. “And as a performer his energy is big enough to work on a festival stage.”
